Mrs. Daisy Mae Craig Leftwich, 68, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday night, December 2, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Leftwich was born March 6, 1950, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late Abe and Medie Esther Sawyers Craig. Daisy was a homemaker and attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy Price and her fiancé, Joe Angel, Tina and Brian Beasley, and Crystal Danner, all of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter and her husband, Heather and David Thompson of Mount Airy; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Sawyers of King; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leftwich was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Danny Robert Leftwich, Sr.; a son, John David Leftwich; a stepson, Danny Robert Leftwich, Jr.; a granddaughter, Amber Marie Martin; a sister, Priscilla Ann Thomas; and three brothers, Horace Junior Sawyers, Herbert Craig, and Leon “Shoestring” Craig. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, with Dr. Jonathan Barker and the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, especially Dr. Kim Kinsley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
