Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at New Union Cemetery, in Lincoln with Rev. Adam Quinn officiating.
Frances was born September 26, 1925, in Neosho, MO, the daughter of Arthur E. Ticknor and Lelia Pointer Ticknor. She married Thomas Brewster Read on February 18, 1944. He preceded her in death in December 1988.
Frances retired from Boss Drug Store in downtown Lincoln after 30 years. She enjoyed cross-stitch, crocheting and collecting porcelain birds and flowers. She also liked watching Cardinal baseball.
She is survived by her children, Phylis (Ronald) Borders and Benton Read; two grandchildren, Kristin Borders and Jonathan Borders; twin sister, Francille Crosier and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Mary; one half-brother and two half-sisters.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
