She graduated from Britton High School and married the love of her life Raymond R. Brezicka on Sept. 5, 1947. In 1951, they made Montana their home. Ray and Joy were married 57 years and raised 5 children. Always the hard worker, Joy held two jobs as a waitress to help provide for their family. Many funny stories came from her experiences at the café.
At the age of 45, Joy attended the Vo-Tech school in Bozeman and began a career at the MSU Library Bindery Department. She retired at the age of 57. In her retirement, Joy enjoyed watching the NBA and Major League Baseball on TV. She spent many hours crocheting for her family and friends. Every family member will treasure her gift of an afghan, dishcloth, or potholder, always made in the perfect color. Joy was also known for her Fried Chicken and Banana bread. Her cat Fluffer and dog Shadow were faithful companions through the years. “Gramma B” was a special part of Sunday dinners and often kept the family in stitches with her stories. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a highlight of her final years.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband. She is survived by her children: Carol (Clark) Finch, Don (Karen) Brezicka, Marla (Jim) Yakawich, Larry Brezicka, MaryLynn (Rick) Vance; brothers Lyle (Noreen) and Dayton (Kristie) Pierson; 11 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings.
