Mrs. Gay had spent some time in Europe prior to moving to Ann Arbor, and later returned there for the further education of her children. In her later years, Mary (Loud) Gay made her home with her daughter, Edith (Gay) Bittinger and it was at their summer home she died in Duxbury, Ma., following a stroke that came a few days before. Had she lived until the end of the month, she would have been ninety-seven years old. Her daughter, Mary, lived to be over 105 years old.
