Girlie died peacefully in her sleep on November 14th in Kane’ohe, Hawai’i at the age of 77.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Miller; sons, Marlon (Susan) Miller of Hilo, Markham (Sophie) Miller of Mililani, Bradley (Cheryl) Miller of Kāneʻohe, and Mitchell (Sumea) Miller of Kāneʻohe; grandchildren, Kaulia, Piʻikea, Maddie, Lalea, Abbie, Daphne, and Elvis. She is preceded in death by her sister, Eileene Waardenburg of San Diego and her brother, Gabriel Aiona.

Girlie was born on January 31, 1941 in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. She graduated from St. Joseph School of Hilo in 1960. She was married to Bill for 57 years. After nurturing her children and setting them off in successful careers, she discovered the joy of traveling and made several trips to Alaska, Mexico, and the East and West Coasts with her girlfriends, cousins, and aunts. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Ann’s Church with visitation commencing at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial mass to follow at 11:15 a.m. A burial service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park with a Celebration of Life reception to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Royal Hawaiian Golf Club (Aliʻi Ballroom) in Kailua. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Girlie’s/Tutu’s life. Aloha attire and the family request no flowers please.

The family would like to thank the Adventist Health Castle hospital staff for all their efforts and care.
