Funeral services will be Wed., May 23, for Kenneth Darwin Albrecht, 80, DeSmet, who died on May 19, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in DeSmet. The Rev. Randy Koeller will officiate in American Lutheran Church at DeSmet, and burial will be in DeSmet Cemetery.

Visitation with a prayer service at the Osthus Funeral Home in DeSmet.

Albrecht was born on Nov. 3, 1926, near Howard to Emil and Harriet (Tripp) Albrecht. He attended DeSmet High School.

He married Beverly Hegdahl on May 11, 1947, near Howard. They farmed together south of Howard until 1987, when a fire destroyed their home and they moved into DeSmet. They retired in 1988. Kenneth drove a cattle and grain truck, and also drove for Lyle Signs in DeSmet for a time. He was also a bus driver for the DeSmet School District and a member of the American Lutheran Church in DeSmet and its building committee.

Survivors include sons, Ron (Lonna) of West St. Paul, Minn., and Rick (Colleen) of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Brenda (Terry) Sanford of Omaha, Neb., Monarae (Allen) Zeeck of Lake Preston, and Marilyn (Leroy) Roth of DeSmet; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth (Bob) Zeller and Esther Bitner, both of Rapid City, and Alice (Don) Lundquist of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, John (Norma) of DeSmet.

He was preceded in death by her parents, his wife and a granddaughter.
