She attended Fay schools and graduated in 1958. She was a talented basketball player during her high school years. She went to work in Watonga and there met Larry Kerr. They were married January 14, 1960. Together they have two sons, Darin Lane and Kevin Allan. In 1963, the family moved to Oklahoma City. There, she raised her two boys and worked. Corene attended South Oklahoma City Junior College and graduated from their nursing program. She passed the state nursing exam and became a registered nurse. Corene went to work at an allergy clinic in Oklahoma City. She worked there 20 years until her retirement. In 2011, Corene and Larry moved back to Watonga to be near her brother Farrol Boyd and wife Brenda, and her sisters Gene Matli, Martha White of Fay, and Freda Hausner of Watonga. Corene loved her crafts and quilting. She always had one or more sewing projects going at a time. She also loved to travel. Together Larry and Corene toured England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. They also visited Hawaii and Alaska. Many summer vacations were spent in Colorado. The couple also went on family research trips visiting many states.
Corene is survived by her husband Larry of the home, son Darin and his wife Christine of Mustang, son Kevin Allan and his wife Natalie of Yukon, granddaughters, Katy Owens and her husband Jud of Norman, Stephanie of Lawrenceville Ga, Samantha of Yukon, and great-granddaughter Mackenzie of Norman.
