Steven Susumu Hamada, 82, died June 28, 1996, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born August 28, 1913 in Fife, Washington to Zentaro and Mashiye Okubo Hamada. Married Gladys Misa Sonoda in July 1945. She died in April 1947. Married Midori Nakano Watanuki in June 1962.
He was employed as a produce manager at various grocery stores throughout the valley and retired from Emigration Market in 1982. Steve enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Survived by wife, Midori; daughter, Judy Tamagawa (Fred); stepsons, Tom (Jane) and Bob (Brenda) Watanuki, Salt Lake City; and brother, Masaru (Jane) Hamada, Suitland, Maryland; ten grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dana Clarke and staff at Hill Haven Nursing Home their devoted care and support.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, July 8, 1996, at the Japanese Church of Christ, 268 West 100 So., Salt Lake City. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 So. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
