Mrs. Harley Southward

Mrs. Lena Wave Southward, 72, wife of Harley Southward of Wharton, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday east of Marion where she was being cared for during a short illness. A Marion resident for 30 years, she came here from Forest.

Born Nov. 30, 1892 in Forest, she was a daughter of William Henry and Amanda Hoy Bash. She was a member of First Church of God here and the Nora Hunter Missionary Society of the church.

Surviving are her husband; 3 sons, Earl of Mary St., William of 309 Brentwood Dr., and Harold of Cardington Rd.; 5 daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Saunders of Fremont, Mrs. Avonelle Williams of 520 Jefferson St., Mrs. Goldie Robinson of 506 Henry St., Mrs. Mildred Prater of 856 Richmond Ave., and Mrs. Marilyn Jones of 487 Pearl St.; 46 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Essinger of Forest, and 3 brothers, Guy, Arlo and Harold Bash of Forest.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Church of God. Rev. Robert E. Hurt will officiate. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hughes Hyll Mortuary after 7:30 tonight until Friday noon, then at the church.
