Virgil Baird, Jasper barber, died Friday
Virgil T. Baird, 55, a Jasper barber for 25 or 30 years, died Friday morning after a short illness. He became ill Thursday, was carried to a local hospital Thursday evening and died the next morning.
Funeral services were held at Legg's chapel Sunday, and burial was in Oak Hill cmetery, A.B. Legg & Sons directing.
The survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wilodine Pendley Baird; one sister, Mrs. Ada Newton, of Russellville; two brothers, Floyd and Homer Baird, of Birmingham.
Baird's barber shop was on Second avenue opposite the courthouse and he was well and favorably known to a host of people.
