STANDLEY, Leonard W. 71, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, September 9, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 5, 1940, the youngest of six, to the late Leo Edgar Standley and Bernice (Armintrout) Standley. He was a faithful servant of God, who fought the battle and won the victory. He was a lifelong member of the Mechanicsburg Free Will Baptist Church, Leonard, a devoted husband for 44 years, married Norma Jean (Roberts) on November 29, 1958. He was an honest, hardworking man, who attended Mechanicsburg schools and worked for Speco (Kelsey-Hayes) for 29 years. Leonard was a kind-hearted man, who often referred to a poem by Sam Walter Foss "Let me live in a house by the side if the road and be a friend to man," He would always lend a helping hand to those in need. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters {partial edit to protect living family} He is proceeded in death by his wife Norma Jean, his parents, a granddaughter Grace Groeber, a great-grandaughter, Hannah, and his brothers Elmo, Blair, Cleve Standley and half-sister Ruby Brown, A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 in the Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the Mechanicsburg Free Will Baptists Church with Rev, Jesse Walters officiating, Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
