Woman Is Killed In State 67 Crash
A San Diego woman was killed last night in a two-car accident on State 67, 1 1/2 miles north of Morena Avenue in Lakeside, as she was returning from a company picnic near Ramona.
Deputy Coroner Glenn M. Sanders identified the victim as Julia K. Eiland, 22, of 2162 Thomas St. Sanders said Miss Eiland was an employe of Boyles Engineering Co. and a part-time student at San Diego State.
The California Highway Patrol said Miss Eiland was driving south on State 67 when she apparently lost control of her car on a curve. Officers said the car skidded into the northbound lane of the highway and was struck broadside by a car driven by William A. Traxler, 44, of Santa Monica.
Sanders said Miss Eiland was dead on arrival at El Cajon Valley Hospital with head injuries. A spokesman at the hospital said Traxler was treated for cuts and bruises and released.
