Lillian Jean Richard, 87, of Carlyss was called home by The Lord on Monday, November 19, 2018 with her family by her side. Jean was born in Johnson Bayou, and resided in Sulphur before moving to Carlyss. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church where she was a member of The Legion of Mary. Jean enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends, especially gatherings at Jada, Scott and Courtney's for crawfish and French music. Christmas week spent at Chere' and Brett's home was one of her favorite times. She cherished Christmas Eves at Anthony and Kaci's and looked forward to this annual family event. She also greatly appreciated Aaron's time he so generously gave to her, cooking, doing chores, and taking care of things around the house and yard. Jean was warm, compassionate and so generous; always helping others. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She could do anything she set her mind to and was known as an expert seamstress and excellent cook. Her laughter and infectious smile will be remembered by all. Just a beautiful soul.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rogenia Suydam of Sulphur, Kerry Richard of Baltimore, MD, Deborah Richard of Sulphur, Paul Richard and wife Vicky of Carlyss, and Denise Richard; grandchildren, Lionel Peschier, II and wife Tracy, Brett Richard and wife Chere', Brandy Davis, Brooke Divita and husband Dean, Justin Richard, Aaron McAllen and companion Rachel, Rebecca Cates and husband Brian, and Scott Richard and wife Courtney; 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Curtis Richard; parents, Elmer and Naomi Fontenot Abshire; and 7 siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Mimosa Pines South of Carlyss. Visitation will be held in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home 2 - 9pm, Friday with a recitation of the Rosary at 6pm and visitation will resume 8 - 9:30am, Saturday.
