William graduated from Furman Theological Seminary and was the pastor of Colombia Church in Lower Three Runs. Later he moved to Sparta, Georgia as pastor of the Baptist Church.From May 21 1864 to June 25 1864, He served as pastor of Union Baptist Church in Washington County, GA. He married MARY BATTLE. 1. JAMES ALEXANDER HARLEY, m. ANNIE PIERCE. James was born April 1, 1846. Served in the 5th GA Cavalry and attended Mercer University where he obtained a law degree. He was a judge of Hancock County and served in the GA legislature.
