Obid Laraby was born in Altav, N. Y., May 2, 1858. He went to Rockford when about 20 years of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Chase, Feb. 22, 1887, and to them were born five children, of whom four survive him, one child having died in infancy. He was injured while leading a span of colts to water July 8. One of them kicked him in the head, and from that time he never regained consciousness and after three days breathed his last. The funeral was held from the house Saturday, Rev. Batcheller of Poplar Grove officiating, assisted by the Court of Honor lodge of Capron, although he was a member of the lodge at Rockton, Ill., and carried $2,000 insurance. The interment was in the Rockton cemetery, the former home of the deceased. He leaves a wife and four children and they have the sympathy of the whole community in their deep loss.
