The death of Wallace Abel, former trustee of Newville township and former county commissioner, took place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home southeast of Newville. He would have reached the age of eighty-six years Nov. 4.
Mr. Abel was a resident of DeKalb county all his life. He served his first term as commissioner in 1915 and with the exception of Arthur Grube of Keyser township, a member of the present board, was the only member to serve three terms.
Surviving are the widow. four children. Mrs. Samuel Tomlinson and Roy Abel, at home, Mrs. W. D. McNabb of 704 South Randolph street, Garrett, and Mrs. Chas. Lake of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Abel, whose maiden name was Nettie Coburn, is eighty years old.
Mr. Abel was a member of the Masonic lodge at Butler.
Final rites will be held Thursday, afternoon at 1:36 at the residence, the Rev. J. N. Scholes of St. Joe, officiating. Interment will be made in the Alton cemetery, two miles east of St. Joe.
