Kurt Maximillian Reinhold Decker was born on the 24th of Feb in the year of 1868 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. His parents was Ralph B Decker and his wife Ilse Neubaur Decker. Went to Lucas county schools afforded at the time.

Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton. C Co., 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The battalion, more than 800 strong left Camp Pendleton for a 6 Mo. deployment in Japan.

The crash occurred during a joint military exercise involving more than 200,000 U.S. and South Korean troops dubbed "Team Spirit". The exercise is a annual test for the two countries of Korea and the U.S. and was scheduled to end Thursday. Then on to Japan.

Of the total of 37 Marines on the maneuver 22 were killed and 15 survived. It happened during day light hours so night goggles were not required, which in times past has been blamed on many crash's.

Copter in crash had dubious and troubled past in military use. It was a CH-53D Helicopter named Sea Stallion which has less power and it was heavily loaded, instead of using the CH-53E which has much more power. In 1987, the entire fleet of more than 90 helicopters was grounded for about a month because of concerns about crafts air safety. Despite the latest crash's of copter's, which is manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft Co. of Stratford, Conn. Senior military officers had said they would not ground the aircraft. According to reports the helicopter crashed at about 7:00 A.M. They crashed into a Isolated mountain Region on South Korea's South East Coast, of Gysongsangbuk-do. Conflicting testimonies. Some said it burst into flames before crashing into the ground and others observed, said it just crashed into the ground.?

Among the dead Marines are the pilot, Capt Michael McGreed, 27 of Monmouth, N.J. and co-pilot Lt. David M Pimple, 25 of Conchise, Arizona.
