A celebration of life for Mrs. Horton will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Following the celebration of life will be an interment at 12:00 PM at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the services will be Billy C. Sutton, Jr.
During her life, she was very active in the community. She worked as a Leadership Commissioner in Charge of Elections for polling and participated in softball and bowling leagues, even earning some awards. She loved giving back to the children by participating in Child Evangelism, Pioneer Girls, Sunday School and Children’s Church.
Mrs. Fay enjoyed spending time outdoors and doing any outdoor activities like fishing, tree climbing, playing ball, and gathering firewood for cold nights. She especially loved gardening at her home in Keithville. She liked watching old movies and Stock Car Racing, especially Jeff Gordon, who was her man. She was an avid reader of Calvin and Hobbes Comics and Garfield Comics and doing crossword puzzles. Her favorite pastime was reading and studying scripture and singing hymns.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years and love of her life, Sam E. Horton; son, Keith Horton; daughter, Chris Horton Kennemer and husband Guy; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, D.L Oliver Sr. and Effie Oliver; brother, D. L. “Buddy” Oliver Jr.; and sister, Nannie Mae Arnold.
In lieu of flower, the family ask to make a donation to Mission Pre-born, saving babies and souls. The family would like to give special thanks to A First Name Basis, especially Doris Wilson, St. Joseph’s Hospice, and Willis Knighton South 3-East Nurse Station and Dr. Donnelly for the care they showed Mrs. Fay.
