The middle child of John H. and Mary A. Conneally Enright, born in Lanesboro, Massachusetts, a small town next to Pittsfield. Louise had an older sister and brother and a younger sister and brother.
She was a very gentle, mannerly, old-school type lady, remembered her sister-in-law, Anne (Nan) Mackie Enright Gustin. She also was enormously talented musically.
A serious tragedy struck this household in 1917. Louise's 19 year old brother, Robert A., died suddenly of heart problems. Surely this must've been a profound loss to all.
Louise was out of high school when her sister Marie married Augustin Hardart in 1919. New York and its high society were open to her through Marie's wedding. Louise was an accomplished cellist, studying in New York City, then touring in Europe as part of a trio, remembers her niece Natalie C. Mackie Nugent Straley.
Many happy days were spent with Marie and her four children between the Pittsfield house and Pelham, New York, in the 1920s and 30s. Louise was often put in charge of entertaining her Hardart nieces and nephews on their visits back to the Enright homestead. Margot Hardart Curran recalls walking down the main street in Pittsfield with Aunt Louise, being greeted very cordially by many passers-by.
Louise was a fragile person, living at home with her parents, then she and her mother lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Natalie and Paul Mackie. At the end Louise was hospitalized for mental illness. God surely will bless her for the struggle she fought here on earth.
