U.S. Congressman. He was educated at the University of Alabama and at the Rotary Foundation Fellow at University of London, England, (1957-58). He served as a First Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence, U.S. Army, (1958-59). He then studied law, was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Alabama. In 1969, he was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-first Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1979. Not a candidate for reelection. He was a private businessman until his death at age 51.
