Karl was born February 9, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to George Grady Cunyus and Ruby Gordon King Cunyus. Karl, an alumnus of Rice University, was a highly-decorated Air Force officer who honorably served his country. During his 22 years of military career, he flew as a Navigator in the B-29 and B-52, flying numerous combat missions in Vietnam. Karl was also a lifetime member of the VFW. Following his retirement from the military he spent 35 years as an owner and grower of almonds in Winton, California. He returned to Texas in 2006 settling at Lake Cherokee in Longview where he was a member of both the Peatown Church and the Church at Lake Cherokee. He and his wife, Ray Elizabeth, made many friends at Lake Cherokee and were well loved by their family and their community. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 60 years, Ray Elizabeth Cunyus.
He is survived by his three daughters and numerous other family members and friends whom he loved dearly.
