Quoting from "Everything" in Roots Web, "William Felton II was born in about 1768 in Lowlands, Germany, and died 25 Mar 1857 in Hagerstown, Jefferson Township, Wayne County, Indiana. He is the son of William Felton born about 1746 in Germany. He married Margaret Mansfield about 1792 in Shade Mountain, West Perry Township, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Mansfield and Margaret Crum nee' Beatty. Snyder County was settled in the 1740s by Pennsylvania Germans from Berks and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was formed in 1855 from Union County. Shade Mountain is in the Southeast part of Pennsylvania in the "ridge and valley" area of the Appalachian Mountains. At 2180-2200 feet, it is the highest point in Snyder County. Fractur (old German Print style) is found there. This is the region where German immigrants settled ,whose gunsmiths knew how to make the long rifles that became known as the Kentucky rifle that was so accurate and gave an advantage to American patriots in the Revolutionary War and was favored by Daniel Boone. This area is the gateway to the Great Wagon Highway which follows the Susquehanna Valley south all the way to the Yadin River Valley in North Carolina. Margaret was born 22 AUG 1774 in Pennsylvania and died 3 JUL 1854/7 in Jefferson Township, Wayne County, Indiana" The family story is that the Felton family of Wayne County were "squatters" early on and built a mill on the river there; later some moved into Henry County, Indiana. The children were:1) Charles Mansfield Felton( 1765 Butler Co, Ohio-16 DEC 1803 Grant County, IN), who married Rebecca Crum(b) (1774 PA) on 26 Feb1791 in PA; 2) Nancy Mansfield Felton (1767); 3) Becca Mansfield Felton (1769); 4) Henry Mansfield Felton (1771); 5) John Mansfield Felton (1773); and 6) Margaret Mansfield Felton (1774 PA-1854 IN)."
