Jack William Hemmenway, 85, of LaBelle passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

He was born on August 26, 1933 to his parents, Asa Hemmenway and Annie Franklin Hemmenway in Port Neches, Texas. Jack graduated from Nederland High School and played football under Coach Bum Phillips. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Jack was the owner of JBS Packing Company for over 30 years, owner of J & M Ranch and Hemmenway Ranch. He was affiliated with the Baptist Faith.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Carl Hemmenway, his two sons, Brad and Randy Hemmenway, his wife, Marie Hemmenway.

He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Fischer and husband, Billy of Hamshire, Sharla Lott and husband, Jeff of San Antonio, his seven grandchildren, Byron Fischer and wife, Michelle, Taylor Fischer and wife, Lauren, Katie Gragnaniello and husband, Cristian, Cassie Wendt and husband, Eric, Tasha Pearson and husband, Trey, Blake Hemmenway and wife, Samantha, Ryan Hemmenway and wife, Megan. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren along with his sister, Patsy King and husband, Almond of Port Neches as well as several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Byron Fischer, Taylor Fischer, Cristian Gragnaniello, Eric Wendt, Ross Lott and Shane Chesson with Robert Alexander Woodruff, Jeremy Louis Linder and Adam Broussard serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Jack’s life will be at 1:00 PM Monday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Bruce Stinson, officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

In Lieu of flowers at the family’s wish, memorial contributions may be to the LaBelle Volunteer Fire Department or Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department.
