Born September 14, 1945, in Streator, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Helmar and Mary (Girard) Swanson.
Lorraine was raised and educated in Kinsman and graduated from Seneca High School. In 1964 she married Verne Babcock whom preceded her in death in 2011. She worked for 38 years at the Morris Hospital as a unit secretary, just retiring on October 1, 2018. Lorraine loved her family especially time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to her trips to Bettendorf, Iowa with her sister, Bev where the two would enjoy the gambling boat. She also enjoyed NASCAR and all sporting events of Chicago teams.
Surviving are her children, Deanne (Paul Mandrik) Sereno, Todd (Rachael) Babcock and Darci (Brett) Herzog; grandchildren, Angela and Lauren Sereno, Jessica Craig, Jennifer, Samantha and Savannah Baker and Raegan and Kohl Babcock; 4 great- grandchildren, Landon and Karmyn Craig, Finley Hanson and Owen McCord; one sister, Bev and a son-in-law, Bryan Baker and three sisters-in-law, Norma Englehart, Betty Williams and Donna Babcock.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Baker and a brother, Ron Swanson.
Visitation for Lorraine will be held 4:00 pm to 6:00 Thursday November 8, 2018 at the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. Immediately following the visitation at 6:00 pm will be a celebration of Lorraine's life officiated by Reverend Carlos Garcia of Minooka Bible Church. Callahan's Aqua cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment at Abraham National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Lorraine's name to the donor's choice.
