Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Crown Point.
Tom enjoyed visits from his great grandson, Nathan. He also enjoyed betting on horse races, golfing, listening to Frank Sinatra, Heineken and his Marlboro Reds.
Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faith (nee Curtin) Hynes; sons, Thomas Hynes, Michael Smith; daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Smith, Denise (Jim) Przybylski; grandchildren, Nicole (Jered), Jennifer, Erica (Steve), Scott, Jessica (Jose), Kailey (Joel), Stacey (Richard), Justin, Grant, Gwen; and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Teresa Hynes; daughter, Alison Ganz and brothers, Myles and Patrick.
