Edward Lowden was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, on the 4th day of Jul 1933; was joined in marriage to Margery Cochran in the year 1855, to this union was born six children, four of whom are still living. The greater part of his life has been spent in Madison county, being one of the pioneers of Iowa. He died at his home August 13, one mile south of Webster, at the ripe old age of seventy, having lived his alloted time. He was a life long Methodist, loyal to his church and God. He leaves behind 4 children and a devoted wife, also a large circle of friends, who will miss him but do not weep as those that have no hope. His gain has been our loss, yet we hope to meet him in heaven, where farewells are never spoken. The funeral was held at the Webster church conducted by his pastor W. W. Williams, to a large sympathetic audience, text Psalms 37:57, "Mark the perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace." He was buried in the Roberts cemetery where his body will rest until it will be awakened by the trump of God, believing he will have a part in the first resurrection for on such the second death shall have no power.
