Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery with Mike Auten officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
C.L. was born July 25, 1934 in Abilene to Daniel and Hattie (Kiesewetter) Brown.
He attended school in Abilene and married Barbara Jean Vinson in Potosi on May 9, 1953.
He worked for Sun Electric for over 40 years. At the time of his death he was working for Armstrong Electric, where he had worked for the past 10 years. He had also worked for Cloud Printing and Abilene Printing and Stationary.
He was a lifelong resident of the Abilene and Clyde area, moving to Clyde from Abilene in 1959.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a volunteer for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo for over 30 years.
He was also a member and a deacon at First Baptist Church of Clyde.
He is survived by five sons, Carl Brown, Jr. and wife Carla of Clyde, Randy Brown and wife Naomi of Sweetwater, Shayne Brown of Clyde, Lanny Brown and wife Amanda of Colorado City and Levi Brown and wife Kaci of Snyder; daughter Rhonda Garza of Abilene; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
C.L. was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean in 2011 and his brother J.W. Brown.
