Alexander “Alex” James Montesi, Sr.

Alexander “Alex” James Montesi, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 19th, 2018.

Alex was born on August 24th, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to Amelia (Boldreghini) and Alexander Samuel Montesi. He graduated from (Memphis) Catholic High School in 1951. He then went on to study at Christian Brothers College where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1955.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army enlisting in 1955 and serving for two years.

Alex was united in Holy Matrimony with Jennie “Jane” Sciara on December 26th, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and honeymooned in scenic Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He began his career working for Liberty Cash Warehouse in Memphis and ended it working at Hanger Clinic. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending his days volunteering at Germantown Methodist Hospital.

Alex was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane, in 2008. He leaves behind three children: Michelle (John) Cordera, Al (Kayla) Montesi, Jr., and Paul (Leigh Ann) Montesi, nine grandchildren: Amelia (Andrew) Avery, Kathleen (Drew) Hall, Johnny, and Julianne Cordera, Jesse and Baylee McAnally, and Sloane, Makensie, and Laurel Montesi as well as two great-granddaughters: Ann Marie Avery and Bonnie Jane Hall, all of Memphis.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 22 from 5-7pm with a rosary to conclude the visiting time at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue in Germantown with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
