Willard A. Morgan

SMETHPORT, Pa. - Willard A. Morgan, 89, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2018) in Lakeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Smethport.

He was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Olean, N.Y., a son of Willard F. and Elma Barber Morgan. In 1952, in Baltimore, Md., he married Dorothy R. Yount, who died in 1993.

Mr. Morgan attended Olean area schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea aboard the USS Tarawa and the USS Robert H. McCard.

Mr. Morgan worked as an independent truck driver. He and his wife owned and operated Willard Morgan Trucking. He transported for Wooster Motor Lines, Remington Freight Lines and Trailer Transit.

He was a very avid farmer and loved his "partner in crime," his dog, Storm. He was a member of the American Legion, Bucktail Post 138 of Smethport; the Allegheny Mountain Engine and Implement Association; and was a member of the U.S. Navy Veterans Organization, having served on the USS Robert McCard and USS Tarawa.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan (Stephen) Gage of Smethport; two sons, John (Anne) Morgan of Smethport and Stanley (Denise) Morgan of Lewis Run; seven grandchildren, Robert Morgan, John Jay Morgan, Matthew Gage, Michael Haynes, Gavin Stuckey, Jessica Biggs and Joshua Biggs; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jean Morgan in 1958; and one brother, Robert Morgan.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Bucktail Post 138 of Smethport. Taps will be played by great-grandson, Alec Morgan, with echo played by family friend, Andrew Knapp.
