James Everett Cecil, 83, Greenfield, died Thursday, Hancock Memorial Hospital, Greenfield.

Born Oct. 18, 1915, in Shelby County, s/o John Adrian and Anna Mae (Gebhart) Cecil.

Sept. 12, 1938, married Lula Mae (Caffee) Cecil; she survives.

Member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Shelbyville Eagles Lodge and Madison Moose Lodge.

Retired in 1974; worked for International Harvester Security for 30 years.

Survivors: wife, Greenfield; a son, James Cecil, Greenfield; two daughters, Sharla Griffith, Greenfield, and Karen Brougher, Indianapolis; a sister, Edna Radish, Indianapolis; two brothers, Melvin Cecil, Shelbyville, and Wayne Cecil, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother.

Pasco Memorial Mortuary, Greenfield, with the Rev. Severin Messick officiating.

Burial: New Palestine Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

JAMES EVERETT CECIL, 83, Greenfield, died July 22. He worked in security 30 years for International Harvester Co., retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Greenfield, Shelbyville (Ind.) Eagles Lodge and Madison (Ind.) Moose Lodge. Also known as the "Bicycle Man," Mr. Cecil would restore discarded and broken bicycles and either sell or give them away to children. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Services: 2 p.m. July 25 in Pasco Memorial Mortuary, Greenfield, with calling from 2 to 8 p.m. July 24. Burial: New Palestine (Ind.) Cemetery. Survivors: wife Lula Mae Caffee Cecil; children [Living], [Living], Karen Brougher; sister [Living], brothers Melvin, Wayne Cecil, seven grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren.
