Obituary (Kennebec Journal, 21 Oct 1901, Monday, Page 8)

Daniel F. McClure, a well known citizen of Oakland, died, early Friday morning, after a short illness. He had been in poor health for about a year, but had not been confined to his bed for more than a week preceding his death, which resulted from a general breaking down. Mr. McClure had spent the greater part of his life in this town where he was engaged in various kinds of business. He was for some time in the employ of Samuel ____in the grist mill at the upper village, later going into business with George H. Danforth in a grocery store, and a few years later he went into the grain business for himself at the old grist mill. He remained in this business until about 5 years ago, when he moved onto a farm on a cross road between Oakland and Waterville, where he lived until the time of his death. Mr. McClure is survived by a widow, one daughter, Mrs. E. C. Benson, and two grandchildren, Kate and Frank Brown, the later having been a member of his grandfather's family for several years. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at his late home.
