She earned a degree in Sociology and a master's degree in Child Care Administration while directing preschool programs for a university and a number of churches. She retired after 24 years as Director of Head Start for seven counties in 2000. She wrote some 200 articles printed in various religious publications. Ruth was active throughout her life in the churches where Neil ministered. Most recently she was an active member and leader of Davis Street Christian Church in Ottumwa.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and a sister.
Ruth is survived by two daughters & spouses; three sons & spouses; four grandchildren & four great grandchildren.
A public prayer service will take place at The Lodge at Good Samaritan Society, 1 Oak Ridge Road in Ottumwa on Friday, Feb 5 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service until 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to a charity of one's choosing.
