Albert Amon Mefford, 85, Koshkonong, was born the son of the late Etsel Mefford and Lilly Francis Lockwood Mefford, on June 13, 1920 in Gainesville, MO; and died Sept. 13, 2005, in Springfield, MO from injuries suffered in an automobile accident at Salem, AR. He was married Sept. 2, 1940 in Thayer to Vera Sewell.
He is survived by six children, Joan Bunch of West Plains; Alene Mefford of Viola; Alice Collins of Cabool, MO; Judy Henson and husband Darold of Lincoln, IL; Amon Mefford and wife Carolyn of Sheridan, WY; Shirley McCutchen and husband Mike of Thayer; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rhoda Anderson of Wichita, KS and Bernice Bradford of Chico, CA.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Mefford; two sisters, Jean Cross and Vivian Lowther; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 17 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains with the Rev. Clark Stephens and Rev. John Holeapple officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, MO.
