He started out in law enforcement in Wilcox County, first as city and then moved to county.
He was the Chief Deputy for 19 years and Sheriff for 2 years at one time.
Mr. Maness was a mason and a member of the Vredenburg Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Clara Maness, a brother, Willard Maness, a sister, Erma Jean Ward, his grandson, Kyle Thomas, his great-grandson, Trenton Thomas and a son-in-law, Kirven Thomas.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Coy Cemetery in Coy, AL.
