MANSFIELD, Laurie Oliver - 81, “Grampie” of Westfield, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, April 5, 2009 with his wife and family by his side. Born in Westfield, he was the son of the late Laurie and May (Frail) Mansfield. In his earlier years, Oliver worked in the Bucket Factory, N.F. Douglas, Bowater Mersey Paper Company and the Department of Natural Resources where he retired. He could usually be seen working in his woodpile, going for his drives to the Moose Pit and visiting anyone who was sick. He is survived by his wife, Odessa (Fancy); daughters Christine (Dwight) Mansfield of Westfield, Alena Peach of West Caledonia; son Byron of Westfield; grandchildren: Robert Peach, Lisa (Ian) Merry, Brett (Evan) Uhlman and Natalie (Mitchel) Herman. The joy of his life his great grandchildren: Addison, Peyton and Tyson; sisters Eva (Manning) Frail of Burns Lake, BC, Marlene (Bentley) Frail of Westfield; brother Wade of Westfield; uncle Carroll Mansfield of Kempt as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters: Louise, Laliah, Rita and Rosemond; brothers: Claude, Glendon and Edson. A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Westfield. Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiated. Donations may be made to North Queens Fire Department or the C.N.I.B.
