LUGOFF – Funeral service for Kenneth R. Akers, 73, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 195.
Mr. Akers passed away at home on Friday, October 5, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Evan and Imolesta Parsons Akers. He retired from the United States Army and served three tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 195.
Surviving are Darlene Riker of Lugoff; grandchildren, Evan Riker, Alex Riker, and Ethan Brown; and longtime friend, Sallie Snider. He was predeceased by siblings, Phillip, Rita, Josephine, Imolesta, Evan and Sonny.
