MAJ Devers is a 1985 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD and he received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, in 1998. MAJ Devers received numerous Marine Corps awards for his service and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq.
MAJ Devers leaves behind his children, Leah Elizabeth Devers and Ryan James Devers, Olathe, KS, both students at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Paula Koontz Devers, Olathe, KS. In addition, MAJ Devers is survived by his siblings, Dr. John Casler, his wife Chung-Hae Casler, Jacksonville, FL; Mrs. Anne Lantry, Washington, DC; Mr. Robert Devers, his wife Melissa Devers, Jacksonville, FL and also his step siblings, Jan Farmerie, her husband Robert Farmerie; Marc Casler and his wife, Kimberly Regis. He also had several loving nieces, nephews and grand-nephews. His parents predeceased him.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, Overland Park, KS. A visitation is scheduled for 6-8pm on Sunday, October 28th at the funeral home. A prayer and blessing will be held at 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 29th at 10am at the funeral chapel. Interment will be held at the Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, VA, at 1:00pm. Gravesite military honors will held.
In lieu of flowers, MAJ Devers’ children request donations be made in his name to the DAV Charitable Service Trust or the Raider Project. Both are fitting charities which support military members and provide guidance to those who suffer.
