Arlene Jeanette Jimenez

Arlene Jeanette Jimenez left us on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009. Arlene was born in Stockdale, Texas on Nov. 30, 1932. She joins her husband, Ernest, a long time land surveyor in Seguin, who preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by her six children: Frank Jimenez and wife Lisa, children Michelle and Collin Jimenez; Keith Jimenez and wife Nancy, children Adam and Mark; Ernestine Jimenez Jackson and husband Rick, children Courtney and Jeremy; Brian Jimenez and wife Terri, children Elizabeth,Michael and Nicholas; James (Jimmy) Jimenez and son Brett; and her youngest son, John Jimenez.

Arlene and Ernest moved to Seguin for the first time in 1956, after years of running a family farm, and lived here most of the time after that.

Everyone who knew Arlene said at least one thing in common: She loved her children and grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and a unique point of view about life. She was generous to everyone. Her hobbies included collecting Beanie Babies, Bunco, genealogy and hypnotism, a talent with which she helped many people with addictions.

She also enjoyed antique shopping and never saw a garage sale without stopping at least to compare notes.

She had a country kind of dedication to her family and friends and a country work ethic that was hard to match. Arlene was smart and a successful business woman who owned and operated the Tri-County Wide Ambulance Company for 18 years. Before that, she owned and operated the Gingerbread House Day Care Center for eight years. It’s hard to go anywhere and not run into someone who was helped by Arlene.

Clients of her ambulance company remarked about her for years after her retirement, saying how gentle, understanding and kind she was to themselves or their relatives. She will be remember as a loving mother, wife and grandmother.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Goetz Funeral Home, 713 N. Austin St., in Seguin, Texas, 78155. The telephone number there is 830-379-2313. Visitation hours will be on the preceding day, Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., also at the Goetz Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, the Seguin Silver Center or to the charity of your choice.
