Nina F. (McNeilly) Mason, 87, formerly of Pine St., Clinton, and 88 Rumbrook Road, Leominster, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, in The Highlands, Fitchburg, after an illness. Her husband of 48 years, Paul H. Mason, died in 1989.
She leaves two daughters, Marcia M. and her husband E. Lyman Rugg, of Sterling, and Susan M. Lawson of Lancaster; six grandchildren: Laurie Nelson, wife of Herbert Nelson, Nina Welch, wife of Thomas Welch, Christine Brogna, wife of Dan Brogna, Howard Hubble, Steven Hubble, Jennifer Parsons, and Jessica Lawson; eight great-grandchildren; and her best, life-long friend and cousin, Edward Garrity of Lancaster. One brother and three sisters predeceased her.
Nina was born in Fitchburg, MA, daughter of John T. and Susan (Dougan) McNeilly, and attended local schools.
Before retiring in 1962, she worked for the former Colonial Press, Inc. of Clinton.
In her youth, Nina was an active horsewoman, participating in various shows, and winning many ribbons and trophies. She had a great love for her dogs, Alaskan Malamutes, and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nina's funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, with a service at 1:00 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
