RUSHVILLE — Lesley Michelle (Rogers) Layton, 32, Rushville, died May 15, 2007, at Rush Memorial Hospital.

Born May 7, 1975 in Rushville, she was the daughter of Edwin P. and Betty J. May Rogers, both survive. She married Samuel W. Layton Nov. 28, 2003; he survives.

Mrs. Layton was a 1993 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and 1999 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She had nearly completed her Master's degree. She was a Special Education teacher for RCHS but had also worked at Benjamin Rush Middle School and at many other Rush County Schools. She had recently become active in the Rush County Relay for Life.

In addition to her parents and husband, survivors include a son, Logan of home; and daughter, Emma of home; one sister, Emily Young of Kalamazoo , Mich. ; and one niece.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday for RCHS students and from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday for the general public at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation

The family of Lesley Layton would like to thank the community for their kindness following the passing of our daughter and wife.

Doctor Boersma and the Emergency Room staff of Rush Memorial Hospital , thanks for helping our family during such a fragile time. Thanks to the staff of Todd Funeral Home for the services provided, you went above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks to the Flatrock River Lodge for the food brought to the house and all the thoughts and prayers that came with it. Thanks to Mr. Freshie's for the support the entire week following the death of our loved one. Thanks to the staff of RCHS and the student body for the memorial buttons used to raise money for a scholarship fund in memoriam, as well as the tables and food provided after the services. Thanks also to PK USA for their support, as well as the friends and neighbors for the food, cards and donations. You will not be forgotten.
