Esther Borth, age 94, of Fairfax passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral Service will be Friday, October 26, 2018, 2:00 P.M. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax with interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Bandon Township, Renville County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be from Noon until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
Esther Henrietta Borth was born on August 27, 1924, in Bandon Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Neil and Sarah (Anderson) Mundahl. Esther was baptized as an infant on September 21, 1924, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on September 18, 1938, both at Zion Lutheran Church. She received her education at country school.
Before marriage, Esther was employed at the Dime Store and was a telephone operator on the old fashioned switch board.
Esther was united in marriage to Willmar Borth on December 4, 1945, at a parsonage in rural Franklin, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived north of Fairfax and farmed in Wellington Township. They moved into Fairfax in 1955. Esther and Willmar shared 61 years of marriage before Willmar passed away on January 17, 2007. The couple was blessed with 10 children.
In 1955 they purchased Smokey Hollow and operated it for nine months. Esther was a loving homemaker and mother and worked at ADC Telecommunications in Fairfax from 1978-1986 when she retired.
Esther was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Aid.
Esther enjoyed playing games, crafts, such as scrapbooking, quilling, counted cross stitch, embroidery, plastic canvas needle work, painting, ceramics, putting puzzles together, word find puzzles and adult coloring books. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
When Esther felt her house was too big for her she moved into Country View Estates on October 22, 2011, and became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax in July of 2018, and passed away there on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the age of 94 years.
