Janice Emma (Gazza) Barta, passed peacefully in her home with family by her side into Eternal Life on Saturday, October 13, 2018. She was born on August 4, 1938 in Iron Mountain, MI to the late Fred and Amelia (Mildred) Gazza. Janice married James Sundquist, of the musical group, The Fendermen, in 1957 and they had 5 children together. She later married Leonard Barta in Green Bay in 1981 and he preceded her in death in 2011.

Janice was a memorable beauty with striking green eyes and witty humor. She had a caring, loving heart and spirit. Her kindness was shared with the many charitable organizations she supported. She was always independent and on the go, attending church, exercise classes and spending time with her family and friends having lunch dates, playing Dominoes and many other enjoyable activities. She was exceptionally devoted in her Christian faith and belief in the Catholic Church. She enjoyed homemaking, reading, music, jigsaw puzzles and travel. She thoughtfully sent cards and gifts for every occasion, wrote letters and included newspaper articles and coupons to offer all the help she could. It gave her much happiness to care for and walk her beloved dogs, Tara and Kirby. Janice retired from the Banta Company of Menasha, WI in 1996 and then enjoyed the Snowbird lifestyle with Len, spending winters in warm and sunny Mission, TX in their RV.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Sheri) Sundquist, Jon (Cindy) Sundquist, Janelle (Carl) Veldhuizen, James (Rose) Sundquist and Jodi (Mark) Foster; step-children Chris (Jim) Kellar, Marge (Bill) Mesar, Kelly (Larry) Hoffman; grandchildren, Jess Brisson, Dean Sundquist, Nina (Lane) Hutchison, Elijah Luken, Mia Luken, Asa Luken, Erin Sundquist and Nikolas Belongia; great grandchildren, Nikola Brisson, Ayanah Garcia and Lorelai Brisson; sister, Betty Schintgen; Aunt, Edie Gazza; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ramon (Patricia) Gazza; brother in law, James Schintgen; Uncle, Rolly Gazza; and her dogs, Tara and Kirby.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive, Green Bay, WI, from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
