Morgan Prichard Gentry, formerly of Midland and Abilene, died December 2, 2005 in Sun City West, Arizona at the age of 80. He was born on August 31, 1925 in Hodges, Texas, to Jurdon and Edna Gentry.
After graduating from Anson High School in 1942, he attended John Tarleton College prior to volunteering for enlistment in the Navy in January, 1944. He served as a hospital apprentice aboard Destroyer USS Talbot, and Escort Carrier USS Breton.
Following his discharge from the Navy, Gentry attended Hardin-Simmons University and was employed by Pioneer Airlines. He transferred to Temple, Texas in 1947 in a management position with Continental Airlines, where he married Nina Spradley on June 6, 1948.
During his tenure with Continental, the couple enjoyed extensive global travels. After his retirement, the Gentry's moved to Clovis, NM and later to Sun City West, AZ.
Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nina; two sisters, Jurdene Gentry Lewis of Hodges and Frances Gentry Klempnauer of Midland; three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene.
Mr. Gentry's remains will be scattered at sea in an honorary ceremony by the U. S. Navy.
