Melvin R. Bradburn was born on October 12, 1932, in Rush County where he lived all his life. He was the son of Russell and Mary Frances (Fitzgerald) Bradburn. Mel attended Mays Elementary and Mays High School.

Mel married Maxine McAlister on February 12, 1950, at the Sexton Christian Church. Maxine preceded him in death on February 5, 2016. Mel was a 35 year member of the Sexton Christian Church and served as deacon, superintendent and custodian. He later became a member of the Rushville Church of Christ until his death, and he served as deacon, member of the board, and custodian.

He worked as a Center Township farmer for 18 years; was a Rush County Highway employee for 31 years as a truck driver and later as assistant supervisor when he retired in 1994.

Surviving are two daughters ,Jean (Mrs. Kenneth) Stanley and Sue Kline both of Rushville; two granddaughters, Amy (Mrs. Greg) Murphy of Greenfield and Heather (Mrs. Mike) Carlton of Rushville; and 3 great-grandsons, Brandon Michael, and Tyler Aaron Murphy and Zakary Michael Carlton.

Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 10 AM in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Jim Coyle presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family on Thursday evening at the mortuary from 4-8 PM. Burial will be held in Rushville East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Church of Christ or to the American Cancer Society.
