Modenia Irene Bailey, 79, of Fairbury, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 28, 1988) at Helen Lewis Smith Pavilion, Fairbury. Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pills Memorial home, Fairbury, the Rev. Richard Mick officiating. Burial was in Chatsworth Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m . Tuesday at the memorial home. Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 2, 1909, in Charleston, W. Va., a daughter of Charles and Cora Ellen Legg Mundy. She married Harvey E. Cohernour on May 5, 1928, in Charleston, Va. He died Oct. 31,1948. She later married John C. Bailey Sept. 15. 1972, in Lewiston. He died Oct. 28, 1986. Surviving are six daughters, Hilda Cox, Thawville; Bernice Bender, Strawn; Mariel Sloniker, T????, Calif; Judy Benda, La Palma, Calif.; ELisa Gulliford, Orange county, Calif.; Laurie Kadow, Kankakee; one son, Franklin C. Cohernour, Danville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, JoAnna Sparks, Secor, and Beverly Stitt Stone, Park Ridge; two sisters, Rosa Stonestreet, Dunbar, W. Va; and Rushie Litton, Charleston, W. Va.; 23 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren;10 great grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, three sons, three grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bailey lived in the Chatsworth area from 1929-1963 before moving to the Pekin and Canton area. She moved to Fairbury in 1976.
