He is survived by his girlfriend, Mary Cannon; one son, William (Paula) Ashby III; two daughters, Natasha Deates and Janice Whitlock; one sister, Judy (Jeff) Hutson; one brother, Cecil Jr. (Sherrie) Ashby; 11 grandkids and eight great-grandkids.

He was preceded by his parents and one brother, Dale Ashby.
