Barbara Jean Halvorsen Bulman, 90, of Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, formerly of Marion, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, after a long illness.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 7, 1928, to Herman and Edith Halvorsen.

Barbara was married for 59 years to Marion A. Bulman, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., who preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Bilger, and two brothers, Richard and Donald Halvorsen.

Barbara retired from American Thread Company in Sevier. She faithfully took care of her husband Marion during his last illness. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Williams (Barry), Sandy Bulman (Joy Weiss), and Deborah Bulman; her sons, Daniel (Maria) and Stuart (Ann) Bulman; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m., at Story Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marion. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Pastor Matt Stevens and the Rev. Bobby Locklear officiating.
