Roy P. Djerf, 75, passed away on a Saturday, at OSF St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was the son of the late Wilbert and Anna (Piehi) Djerf.

After graduating from Calumet High School in 1961, Roy served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965 as a hospital corpsman. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1965, Roy attended x-ray school at St. Luke's Hospital in Marquette, Mich., and Nuclear Med School in Southfield, Mich. Ray was an x-ray nuclear med tech at Marquette General Hospital for eight years. Then in 1975, he started the Nuclear Med Department at OSF Hospital in Escanaba where he was employed for 33 years until he retired in 2008.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, drinking coffee and jigsaw puzzles. He was an avid Redwing fan and loved being with his grandchildren.

Roy leaves behind his wife and best friend, Judy (Lockhart) Djerf, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1977. They spent 41 loving years together as husband and wife. He was also survived by: his children, Cory (Dawn) Nelson, Craig (Julie) Nelson, Anna Kositzke; grandchildren, PJ, Hailey and Sam Nelson, Derec and Lucas Nelson, Devin Smith, Rebecca and Ethan Kositzke; brother, Ed Jackson; and sister, Jean (Carl) Micech.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Bacon.

Visitation at the Crawford Funeral Home. Military rites by the Delta County Veterans Council. Burial in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
