Donald Ray Whiteley, age 79, of Milano passed away at his home in Milano on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Memorial services will be held at a later time.

Donald Ray Whiteley was born February 20, 1939 in Vernon, Texas to Johnnie Branch and Nola Marie (Holliman) Whiteley.

He was a fire fighter and arson investigator for the city of Houston. He came to the Milano area where he has lived the past 38 years. He worked as a Cameron police officer for over 13 years and retired March 31, 2001.

On August 4, 1973 he and Katie (Mize) Hunt were married in Mexico. Donald Ray served in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting guns, knives and deer antlers, going camping and riding his four-wheeler.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Steve Hunt.

Surviving are his wife, Katie Whiteley of Milano; his son, Johnny Joel Whiteley of Milano; a step-daughter, Barbara Graham of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Sky Litterell, Jonathan Whiteley, Ceciley Sudduth, Amanda Whiteley and Peyton Hunt; and three great-grandchildren, Blake Trevino, Allie Jo Sudduth and Landry Sudduth; brother-in-law, J. T. Mize.

The family wishes to thank Kendred Hospice and staff for their care and special thanks to care givers, Pam, Diane and Julia.
