CHURCH HILL – John Thomas Gray, 87, left for his heavenly home on October 12, 2018.
John was a lifelong resident of Church Hill, TN, (McPheeters Bend), where he was born, raised & departed. He has now received his heavenly body with no more struggling. John retired from Holliston Mills in 1992 after 37 years of employment. He was always content being home working in his yard and gardening and spending time with his family. He worked with his bees for many years supplying many friends and family with honey. John enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Hardees breakfast club. John married his loving wife, Joyce on December 24, 1955 and they were married for 62 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Effie Gray; brothers, Kenneth Gray, Gene Gray; sister, Louise Gray Marsh.
John is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Gray; son, Randall Gray; daughter, Sheila Jackson (D.J.); grandchildren, Derek Houser, Megan Tipton, Brianna Peters, Alexis Jackson and Whitney Jackson; great-grandchildren, Eli, Paisley, Bella, Gideon, Dezeriah, Athena, Kenzie, Austin, and his sister Marie Long.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kyle Falin and Rev. Eddie McAmis officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 16 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Derek Houser, David Jackson, Keith Mann, Charlie Steffey, Tommy Heron, and W. B. Salyer.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ashley and Chelsea of Amedisys Hospice Care and Kyle & Debra Falin for their love and support through this difficult time.
